Use of the Monovette® Tube drawing system, though commonly used in Europe for years, is now being used more globally for many clinical trials. Monovettes are collection containers that behave similarly to the vacuum tubes commonly used in clinics and hospitals. However they have a unique appearance and possess minor differences such as; vacuum must be manually created, an adaptor must be used and Monovette tubes use a turn and lock system. Covance Central Laboratory Services (Covance CLS) has created this eLearning with video training to aid sites in becoming more familiar and comfortable with using Monovettes.

Geneva Lab earns ISO 15189 Accreditation

microscope Congratulations to our Covance Central Laboratory Services SA, in Geneva Switzerland for being the first of our laboratories to receive their ISO 15189 accreditation. The accreditation is based on the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 15189 Standard for laboratories’ technical competence, management, and continual improvement. It focuses on improved patient safety and risk reduction, outlining standards for quality, and competence particular to medical laboratories. [read more]   




Fill Your Tubes!

Sometimes the sponsor will need to conserve the amount of blood drawn from your patients. When this is indicated, the sponsor may choose to use the minimum blood volume. This means only enough blood will be collected to test the sample one time; not enough sample will be collected for repeat testing. As such, it is critical to allow the tube’s vacuum to draw to the correct volume of whole blood and fill the tube to the proper level. Under filling a tube may fail to provide enough volume to complete the testing. [read more]

Every Sample Counts

In a clinical trial, every sample counts. Each of those valuable samples has a patient behind it. The data points resulting from that sample could help obtain the regulatory approval needed for a life changing drug that could benefit someone you know.
